We will introduce in a fun, engaging way the history of the Anglo Saxons and the limitations of Anglo Saxon medicine (spoiler alert -it was terrible!)
There is an optional 'Dress the teacher' part where you can be dressed in some traditional anglo saxon garments (no nudity required, don't worry!)

Workshop 1 - Anglo Saxon Medicine (morning)
Create a leechbook, an ancient document which was used by the villagers to 'cure' a wide range of social and medical ills. The children can create their own leechbook cure with an optional illuminated letter.
As an extension, children can learn and play the ancient Anglo Saxon game of Knucklebones.

Workshop 3 - Carving Ancient Runes (afternoon)
Children learn about the power of runes for the Anglo Saxons and have a chance to carve and keep their own engraved wooden rune plate (which can be converted to a necklace or bracelet.
To finish the afternoon, they will have a fully interactive drama-based storytelling of the story of Thor and his hammer.
