Recommended Day Schedule:

Part 1 - Whole School Assembly
Featuring an optional dress the student (or teacher!) session, this entertaining opening assembly involves all the children and assumes no prior knowledge. Children will learn about important parts of Mayan daily life and the social structures in place. They'll also learn (and see) how the taller the headdress was, the more important member of the village they were!

Workshop 1 - Pok ta Pok (morning)
The ancient game of Pok ta Pok will be explained and the children can try out the key skills they will need to have (using their hips and elbows only to pass a ball). They will then have a chance to 'sacrifice' the captain of the losing team.

Workshop 3 - Design a Maya calendar (afternoon)
A range of artefacts will be distributed for the children to investigate and be rainforest archaeologists. Then, they will have a chance to reconstruct a Mayan clay pot OR design a Mayan calendar.
