Recommended Day Schedule:

Part 1 - Whole School Assembly
This assembly will introduce the Egyptians in a fun and engaging way. It requires no previous knowledge of the Egyptians and can be used as an engagement activity to launch the unit. Chlidren will find out about what the Egpytians achieved and how they were both a wonderful and savage society.
All children will have a chance to have 'Egpytian Eyes' drawn on with facepaint.

Workshop 1 - Creating a cartouche
The children will learn what a cartouche is and have a chance to create their own. They will learn of the power of the Gods to the Egpytians and learn about everyday life.
After that, they can be artefact investigators, looking at some ancient artefacts and deciding what they were used for and who would have used them.

Workshop 2 - Mummification (afternoon)
In groups, children can create their very own mummies. They will learn about who was mummified, how the mummification process took place (with practical examples!) and what happened afterwards.
To finish the afternoon, they will have a chance to hotseat with a pharaoh!
